Hello Online Community!

I hope all of you had a chance to come out and visit our new Wellspring Treasures Virginia Highland store opening this past weekend. We are thrilled to cultivate another community of shoppers, volunteers, and people who can donate their treasures to ensure a safe restorative home for survivors of sexual abuse and trafficking through Wellspring Living. With the grand opening, the Wellspring Living staff is already looking for another community of churches, businesses, and groups who can support the opening of yet another store in metro Atlanta, to further support our mission.

In starting the process of opening another store, Wellspring Living is seeking an undergraduate or graduate volunteer intern for 8 weeks of the 2012 summer to research possible locations for future Wellspring Treasures Stores.  Wellspring Treasures are upscale resale shops that help to bring in 25% of the revenue Wellspring Living uses to serve girls and women who are survivors of abuse and sexual exploitation.  The research will help Wellspring Living make wise choices about placement of new stores and increasing the funds available for service of women and girls.   The intern will have the opportunity to invest richly in the futures of the girls and women who will benefit from the profits of the stores, making a measurable impact for survivors.

The main areas of research will be church demographics in communities across the metro Atlanta area, neighborhood population demographics, and retail offerings in neighborhoods across the metro area.  At the end of the internship, the intern will be expected to compile and present findings to the Chief Operations Officer and Vice President in a presentation format.

The internship will last 8 weeks, require 12 hours per week, and is unpaid.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate Junior or Senior OR Graduate Student studying business, market research, industrial engineering or a similar field of study.

An interest in research practices and methods

Proficient in internet searches and other basic computer skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Those interested in applying for this internship should send a cover letter and resume to nsousa@wellspringliving.org and jmcewen@wellspringliving.org.
